This marvelous drawing by Saul Raskin shows 2 Hasidic men. One is wearing a small tallis. The hats indicate that these very Orthodox men were either Yemenite or Morrocan. This drawing came from one of Saul Raskin’s travelling sketch pads. Saul Raskin frequented Israel on many occasions. This drawing, in part, was used for his publication “The Land of Palestine” and you can find it on page 73, where it shows 3 men who are praying. Underneath the drawing, in Hebrew, reads “shema koleinu” which means “hear our voices”. Next to this drawing is the wailing wall. The drawing is signed lower right, in pen, Saul Raskin. The image measures 12″ high x 9″ wide. The frame measures 15″ high x 12″ wide. Please note that there are smudges from Saul Raskin’s fingers turning the page in the extreme lower right corner.
