This Yemenite amulet pendant has written in Hebrew on the back words that invoke G-d’s protection. The symbol of the Hamsa is inscribed above the Hebrew words. The Hamsa or hand is a symbol for peace. It was bought in Sa-na, Yemen in the early 1960’s. The composition is gold guild over brass. There are 3 pieces of turquoise inlaid in each corner of the triangular pendant. At the bottom of the pendant, there are 3 circular coins. The middle of the pendant has a tassle attached to the center of the piece. It measures 3 ” high by 2 ” across. In Hebrew on the back, there is a reference to a Kamaiya. A Kamaiya is a piece of jewelry or parchment which invokes G-s’s protection against evil spirits. This has been in our mother’s family collection for the last 60 years.
