Dedicated with a Happy New Year greeting to the gallerist Sarah Kishon (Tel Aviv). 17 x 24 cm / 6.69″ x 9.45″ inch. Good condition with no tears, rips, holes, wrinkles, repairs, wear, paint peelings or losses. (aniai, Lithuania, April 3, 1908 – Montevideo, Uruguay, June 26, 1994) was a painter, draftsman, Uruguayan diplomat and journalist of Lithuanian descent. He was the youngest of six siblings and his childhood was spent in his native village, a shtetl near Kaunas, Lithuania. In addition to studies of painting and drawing with the Lithuanian painter Paul Kaufman, Baitler attended the School of Arts and Crafts and the World ORT in Lithuania. In 1927, he moved to Montevideo, where he established and began studying painting and philosophy of art with the Uruguayan artist Joaquin Torres Garcia. Between 1949 and 1963 made several trips to Europe. In 1959, he was appointed member of the Uruguayan Commission of Fine Arts, and from 1963 to 1964 he was cultural attache at the embassy of Uruguay in Israel. He taught numerous conferences on Pedro Figari, Rafael Barradas and Torres Garcia. His works are included at The National Museum of Fine Arts and at The Museum of Uruguay Juan Manuel Blanes, the Israell Museum in Jerusalem, the Museum of Montevideo (Minnesota) and several art museums in New York, USA. Born and educated in Lithuania. Baitler, an impressionist, went to Uruguay in 1927 and exhibited for the first time at the “Free Artists Salon” in 1931. He was one of the founders of the atelier ETAP. Exhibitions of his work were held in North and South America as well as in Israel. In 1936 he issued the Art Magazine Perseo and wrote essays on art and on art criticism. In 1963 he was appointed cultural assistant to the Uruguayan Embassy in Israel for three years. His works are in the National and Municipal Museums of Uruguay and Israel. Aniai, Lituania; 3 de abril de 1908 – f. Fue el menor de seis hermanos y su infancia transcurrió en su pueblo natal, un shtetl cerca de Kaunas, Lituania. Además de realizar estudios de pintura y dibujo con el pintor lituano Paul Kaufman, Baitler asistió a la Escuela de Artes y Oficios y a la World ORT en Lituania. Poseen obras suyas el Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes y el Museo Juan Manuel Blanes de Uruguay, el Museo Nacional de Jerusalén, el Museo de Montevideo (Minnesota) y varios museos de arte de Nueva York, Estados Unidos.
